It seems I have been so anxious for summer to arrive! Working throughout all the sunny hours each day has really made me feel like it wasn't coming this year, I arrive to work when the sun is coming up, and leave when its on it's way down. Late last night I got home from a trip to SoCal with my mom, four of my siblings and Preston. A week with out work and being with (most of) my family and best friend in sunny, lovely California was a perfect cure for my summer anxiety.
We spent the week playing in Disneyland and California adventure, it was fantastic. I had worries of getting burnt out of the Disney scene within a day or two but really I loved it more than I thought I would! Being there for a whole week allowed us to play at our leisure and to explore more and visit parts of it we had never experienced before. For instance in toontown there is a work shop (I forget the name) but you go in and there is so much to do! We got to learn how to draw mickey mouse with a real Disney artist, we found out which Disney characters we were most like (I am most like Nola and TOTALLY called it!!), we went into a room where Ursula 'stole' our voices, and we talked with Crush from finding Nemo! That was the coolest, it was an interactive discussion with him in the big blue on a big screen and he actually talked to us and answered questions it was super impressive and way fun.
Wednesday morning Preston and I got up at seven and headed out to Laguna Beach. After finding sufficient parking for the beast (my moms lifted excursion) we scurried to the beach and explored the many tide pools near the oceans edge, I loved it! Each individual pool had sooo much life, it was like looking into mini aquariums! We saw lots of little crabs, little fish shells (unoccupied and occupied) and sea anemones. After searching the pools we decided to walk up the streets and look at the little shops, the first one we went into I found a cool little leather case for my passport, I am excited to put it in there as soon as I get it back from ILP. We had a lovely walk and ended up at Whole Foods where we bought some food and from there got our towels and swim suits from the car then enjoyed a couple hours laying in the sun. Both Preston and I are still feeling that sun, we didn't pack scum screen and apparently the sun works just as well behind whimsy clouds as it does fully exposed. We spent half the day in Laguna and headed back to the hotel around four, by this time we really realized our mistake, we both resembled lobsters (we heart alovera!). We got ready and headed off with the fam to dinner with Goofy, which was very fun and may I say - very goofy. We ate while characters came around and visited with us like Goofy himself, Mini, Daisy Duck, Sleeping Beauty and the Mad Hatter and Rabbit!
The whole trip 'Twas very fun :) I am happy to be home though and love the beautiful weather! The mountains are gorgeous, everything is green, my summer skin is showing up.. I can't wait!
Plans for this summer are as follows (but are not limited to):
Swimming!! Pool, river, lake.. whatever! Tubing, wake boarding, boating.. ya H2O!!!
Hiking! This year I dub myself a Native of the wilderness. I plan on practically living in them mountains on yonder, breathing in the fresh crisp air, becoming one with the life around me, showering less and less, learning the language of the universe, exploring my glorious surroundings, so on and so forth! I believe backpacking will be my best friend.
Music, music, music.. Concerts, Twilight fest, blasting the pod, singing all day everyday.. I want to pick back up on piano and attempt once more at the guitar and practice not being too shy to sing... I will live on the golden beams that music spreads across my soul!
Creating! I want to -at least once- have a booth at the farmers market featuring homemades and new creations and also sharing produce from my lovely garden
Bathe my imagination in literature! I want to feed my intellect with great works of education, inspiration and pure entertainment
Overall my goal is to enjoy my summer one day at a time building memories and learning along the way
Phew...
The blog is back to life!
Manda you are so sweet and optimistic! I loved this post. :) It helped me to remember to have fun each day and not just look forward to the weekend. Glad you had fun in Cali! :)
